Field Service Technician - Mackay

The Role:

• Assist with improvements regarding the prevention of major mechanical failure, and develop strategies to ensure the required repairs meet the correct standards.
• Ensure opportunities for continuous improvement are identified and reported utilising the Caterpillar Production System (CPS) methodology’s.
• Submit accurate service reports, time cards, parts request sheets, parts quotes teardown reports and time required guides (TRG) as required on applicable repair jobs instructed by a Tradesperson.
• Perform maintenance, repair and recondition jobs on all equipment sold and/or serviced by the Company as directed by Leading Hand/Foreman or immediate supervisor
• Research and consult the correct and latest service information systems for specific procedures, instructions and specifications
• Research and use the correct and latest parts and service information systems to order parts, as well as the guide to correct disassembly/assembly details
• Ensure repairs are carried out using the appropriate control guidelines to ensure that rework jobs do not occur. This is to include check sheets, quality control procedures and guidelines for reusable parts
• Ensure all assigned tasks are completed within required target times
• Identify possible areas of wastage and work towards continuous improvement
• Ensure all components are fitted to the appropriate shipping stand/frame and correctly secured
• Ensure all required repairs are reported to the Leading Hand/Foreman
• Ensure all unsafe conditions are reported immediately
• Perform other duties as assigned

The successful candidate will posess the following:

• Trade Qualified Mechanical Fitter
• Have a minimum of 3 to 5 years' expereince in an Underground or similar Field Based role.
• Have previous exposure to Underground mining processes and procedures
• Hold diagnostic skills able to identify faults/issues
• Have Mechanical/Hydraulic diagnostic skills
• Have the competent skills to repair and replace mechanical Drive Management Systems
• Have understanding of underground mining systems and operations, time management, OH&S and quality control
• Have the ability to develop work procedures, prepare service day plans/reports, basic RCA and trouble shooting skills
