Tasks & responsibilities
- In your new role as Head of an in vivo research laboratory, you are leading a highly motivated and experienced team with the focus to support our obesity pipeline.
- You are responsible for the setup and validation of new in vivo models to facilitate the testing of new therapeutic concepts in obesity beyond body weight lowering efficacy (e.g. energy expenditure).
- With your scientific expertise you design and supervise preclinical studies at CROs and drive the science in collaborations with academia.
- You will contribute to the portfolio of the respective indication with innovative new target proposals.
- Furthermore, you act as a research project leader of drug discovery projects in close collaboration with other areas including, medicinal chemistry, NBE discovery and drug discovery sciences.
- The interaction with other departments of Boehringer Ingelheim as well as local authorities to facilitate state of the art in vivo preclinical research according to highest ethical standards and the 3Rs principles completes your scope of responsibility.
Requirements
- PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, or molecular pharmacology, DVM or MD with relevant post-doc experience or industry experience. Alternatively, master´s degree with long-term professional experience in an international environment
- Expert knowledge in design, supervision, and interpretation of preclinical in vivo studies with a focus on rodent models of obesity, including a deep understanding of the pathophysiology of obesity
- Scientific excellence, demonstrated by a strong track record of publications in scientific journals
- Team player with excellent sense of responsibility, high competence in personnel management and a high intrinsic motivation to develop drug treatments with the goal to improve patient´s lives
- Excellent communication skills as well as fluency in spoken and written English are mandatory, good language skills in German and the willingness to improve that further is advantageous
