As a fleet manager, you are in charge of maximizing efficiency and profitability by managing the vehicles used by company and the drivers who operate them. You may be asked to research and select vehicles for lease or purchase, keep careful records on vehicle use and maintenance, log driver routes and schedule their work, and resell unwanted vehicles that no longer meet company needs. Your responsibilities as a fleet manager include all fleet logistics and monitoring all aspects of costs and profits, from vehicle wear to fuel costs.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Maintain departmental compliance with company policies and procedures.
Ensure departmental adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
Record keeping.
Manage other drivers.
Schedule, route, maintain, and track transport vehicles.
Negotiate with suppliers.
Resolve disputes.
Analyze the effectiveness of operations.
Implement and enforce transportation scheduling and policy changes.
Other as assigned by management.

2. Knowledge, Skills & Experience
A minimum of 5 years working experience in a similar role (in a fleet management company)
At least 2 years of driving experience in a delivery role
Excellent and effective communication and interpersonal skills
Good analytical and coordinating abilities
Must possess good leadership qualities
Must be proactive and be able to pay keen attention to the smallest of details
Ability to work as part of a team
Basic knowledge of computer applications
Must be able to motivate the drivers to ensure their full co-operation at all times
Must be able to manage time effectively and also meet/beat deadlines
Need to understand vehicle systems, mechanics, and technology sufficiently to authorize
repairs and accurately evaluate the work of employees involved in maintenance and repairs
