Develop gender in emergency sub-strategy, provide oversight of implementation of the gender in emergencies sub-strategies
Build and maintain strategic relationship with CARE humanitarian team to ensure mainstreaming of gender in emergencies and efficient use of resources, monitor measures of success and report on progress in strategy implementation
Build and maintain strategic relationships with CARE and partner team to leverage and mobilize human and financial resources to support gender, protection and empowerment of women and girls in emergencies.
Support Gender and Protection team in proposal writing and ensuring gender transformative approach, good practices and standards for GiE
Provide technical and strategic support to other sectors such as WASH, Nutrition, DRR to better mainstream gender in their programming
Lead gender analysis/Rapid gender analysis
Develop and deliver capacity building plan for CARE staff at multiple levels of the organization and its partners on how to practically integrate gender in emergencies
Review strategic documents, reports, guidelines and ensure gender transformative approaches
Participate in emergency preparedness planning processes including reviewing emergency preparedness plans to ensure gender mainstreaming is adequately considered and planned for in advance of emergencies, and that capacity gaps can be addressed before an emergency
Further deepen our understanding of GBV at an operational level to consolidate experience, test innovations and models, document lessons learned and refine GBV guidance.
Help shape CARE’s emergency human resources policies and practices to promote gender equality and the protection, empowerment and voice of women and girls, such as considering gender composition of teams, supporting capacity development of women, training, orientation and codes of conduct.
Work closely with MEAL team in gender marker, gender responsive feedback and complaint mechanism, and overall gender responsive MEAL framework
Advocate internally and externally for gender transformative approach in humanitarian response
Represent CARE in GiHA working group, Gender Hub, and coordinate with relevant networks working on gender/GBV and emergencies issues to promote global standards
Harmonize role with UN, GoB, line ministry and other agencies and actors to CARE’s technical role
Represent CARE Bangladesh-Cox’s Bazar at regional and global coordination platforms
Work together with all appropriate CARE groups such as communications, SRH technical coordinator, GBV Technical Coordinator and other sector technical coordinators
Coordinate with other sector responses within CARE (GBV, WASH, Shelter, Food, SRH, DRR, etc.) to ensure gender mainstreaming
Qualifications & Experiences:
5 to 7 years’ experience in gender programming
Master in gender studies, social science
Experience of implementing gender program independently working in reputed national or International NGOs.
Experience in conducting comprehensive and rapid situational and need assessments and an understanding of gender requirements in emergency.
Experience in project management
Skills in training, monitoring and evaluation of gender in emergencies
