Position Summary:

A Program Manager in the Pharma Services Group (PSG) Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team is responsible for leading the delivery of assigned enterprise programs on time, within budget and in adherence to quality goals. Working with project sponsors and leaders, you will define the program’s objectives, build and manage plans, and oversee quality and timely delivery throughout the entire program.

As a leader within the PSG Mergers and Acquisitions team, the Program Manager is also a thought leader regarding program execution and program organizational structure. The Program Manager also supports portfolio management, performs project governance activities, and contributes to continuous process improvement.

Successful candidates for the Program Manager position exhibit strong planning and organizational skills, excellent leadership, negotiation and mediation skills, and a demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will have proven background in enterprise IT program management in regulated environments, such as GxP/SOX/HIIPA/GDPR., and a passion for understanding both the business and the technical aspects of the programs they lead, ensuring programs deliver on value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of assigned M&A programs on time, within budget and in adherence to quality goals.
  • Work with project sponsors and leaders to define the program’s objectives and business case, build and manage plans, and oversee quality and timely delivery throughout the entire program.
  • Define program scope and deliverables working across Thermo Fisher business and IT organizations which includes program definition, resource estimation, budget management, and scheduling.
  • Identify, recruit, and lead your program teams including third party consultants/contractors.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate program risks.
  • Work with program work stream leads from both IT and the business to estimate resource requirements, project activities, and dependencies to build the detailed plans.
  • Coordinate activities and manage dependencies across various functional teams to support a highly collaborative work environment.
  • Manage prioritization decisions and change requests throughout the life of the program.
  • Communicate key risks and issues to management and sponsors at all levels of the organization, and complete risk planning activities to mitigate and/or eliminate them.
  • Establish alliances with other departments and organizations.
  • Manage day-to-day program activities and related meetings.
  • Capture and report program status and ensure the project management information systems are maintained with accurate and current information on all work streams in the program.
  • Monitor assigned project portfolio and provide remediation plans for troubled projects
  • Perform project governance activities: serve as PSG IT M&A advisor on assigned projects, facilitate phase gate reviews, conduct project audits.
  • Partner with the central IT PMO on the development and implementation of project management strategy
  • Lead/support continuous process improvement throughout PSG IT
  • Support resource capacity management processes
  • Build, develop, and grow IT relationships vital to the success of programs
  • Develop, implement, and train others on best practices and tools for project execution and project management
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Mergers and Acquisitions experience highly valued
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Computer Science, Business Management, Project Management or Management Information Systems. Masters preferred.
  • 10+ years of IT experience of which 7+ years of Program Management and 2+ years working in a PMO structure in a fast-paced global GxP validated environment.
  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred. (e.g. Biotech, Pharma, Medical Equipment, etc.)
  • Minimum of two full life cycle ERP implementations.
  • Experience managing local and remote team members (15+) on programs of at least twelve months duration
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, excellent leadership, negotiation and mediation skills, and a demonstrated ability to work with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently with little direction or direct supervision
  • Experience managing programs across geographical regions, across functional teams, and across applications.
  • Excellent verbal, written and facilitation skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Must be fluent in French and English
  • Ability to function in a team-oriented environment and influence staff, colleagues, and superiors.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Agile Scrum certifications, or similar desired
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Project, Visio and HP-PPM. Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, Office365, Salesforce.com highly desired.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 30% of the time
  • Available to work normal Central European Time Zone hours with the expectation that some alignment with US Times Zones will be needed on a frequent basis
